Roysambu is a commercial and residential neighborhood located approximately 11 kilometers North East of Nairobi CBD. It is a constituency in Nairobi County consisting of 5 wards; Roysambu, Zimmerman, Kahawa, Githurai, and Kahawa West
During colonial times, the bigger part where Roysambu sits was a coffee plantation farm. The area was known as Royal Suburbs shortened as Roy-Subs. Locals pronounced this as Roysambu, which stuck to date. The land on which the plantation was was later subdivided and sold. Today, it is a commercial and residential neighborhood mostly occupied by middle and low-income earners.
